Last night Town Meeting approved the FY11 School Budget at $88.7 Million. This is what the CFO had proposed last week. It will use $400,000 from the town’s new hotel/meals tax to partially bridge the $840,000 gap that existed after the 2-day furlough agreed to by the FTA. Town Meeting voted down a recommendation to up the stabilization allocation amount to $600,000. Thankfully, however, the Finance Committee’s recommendation of an $86.8 Million budget (an additional $2.3 Million cut) did not need to be considered.
Now that the budget amount from the town is settled, the school district will meet to figure out how to cut this last remaining $430,000 from the budget. If you are interested in the local paper’s version of the details of last night’s vote you can read it here:
